Day 366: Globetrotting

The travel required to circle the globe in a year involved an improvised combination of 18 flights, 74 long distance bus trips, a couple uncomfortable trains, a handful of bumpy boat rides, and way too many shady taxis. We stayed in nearly 100 different cities and slept in bungalows, tents, hostels, campers, families’ houses, and airport benches among others. Our weight fluctuated the most it probably ever has but we ended up coming back almost exactly the same as when we left, only with less muscle. Our limited selection of clothes forced us to mix and match but there are still too many of our more than 20,000 pictures where we are wearing the same outfit. Through it all, our eyes began to open a bit wider and we began to look at and think about things a little differently than we did before. The journey also promoted a physical transformation, and the bushy beard is something we never anticipated but is now part of the story as well.

Até agora foram 366 dias, 18 aviões, mais de 74 ônibus de longa distância, vários trens e a mais longa e inesquecível com apenas 40 horas. Taxi comunitário, vários barcos grandes e pequenos. Mais de 100 cidades, inúmeros diferentes hoteis/hostels/casa de amigo/pousada/redes e bancos de aeroporto que passamos a noite. Deu para contar nos dedos os dias que ficamos doentes. Nosso peso ocilou um pouco, principalmente quando estavamos na Índia, mas regressamos pros States com os mesmos kilos de quando saímos. Um dente quebrado, mas sem dor. Nossas roupas, até que estão inteiras, e sim, tivemos lavanderia em todos os lugares que passamos. Nos demos conta que temos roupas até demais, e que para a próxima viagem podemos ter uma mochila mais pequena. É engraçado sentir a mudança interna, e ver as coisas com olhos diferentes agora. Aprendemos muito e além do interior, é engraçado ver como a aparência experior (principalmente de Bryan) mudou. Com as mais de 20.000 fotos, temos varias histórias para contar e mostrar pros netos como a barba do vô um foi já foi grande,
