Day 361: Back in the USA

After traveling out of the country on our journey for so long, it felt a little surreal walking off the plane and realizing we were finally back in the homeland.  The last place we saw this many Americans was Costa Rica so it’s going to take some time for us to acclimate ourselves to our compatriots.  While we realize life kept on moving while we where away, things seem pretty much the same as they were when we left.  No doubt, our eye-opening experiences have shaped our thoughts and attitudes about a lot of things and hopefully, we’re better off for it.  Sadly, the trip is on its last legs but it’s not over yet…  We’ll be winding it down completely in Miami with Márcia’s sister, Rose, for a week before we head home and start to daydream about our next trip…

Quase 365 dias viajando, e sem mentir… foi um pouco surreal sair do avião, colocar os pés novamente em solo americano. Voltar a falar inglês, estar num ambiente americanizado, acho que a ultima vez que vimos tantos norte americanos juntos assim foi só na Costa Rica rs. E a pergunta que não quer calar: Se estamos prontos para voltar a realidade??? Acho que depois do período de depressão, ainda vai levar um tempo para nos adaptar… Nossos olhos agora são outros, as experiências nos fizeram ver talvez o que não viamos antes. Mesmo depois de um ano, tudo continua o mesmo, as pessoas, o cheiro, as coisas, etc… Mas como ter uma irmã que mora em Miami, não é para qualquer um, Houston foi só para passar pela imigração, porque a festa ainda continua por mais uma longa semana em Miami. Estamos chegando Rose!!!
