Day 340: Streaming water

Hidden in a lush setting just a short drive from Palenque, the stunning Misol-Ha falls drops 35 meters into a wide pool surrounded by colorful tropical vegetation.  It’s a wonderful natural sight to take in and we got lost staring into the cascading water gliding off the edge of the cliff.  Fittingly, the name means “Streaming water” in the local Maya dialect.  A unique opportunity to traverse a path behind the main fall leads to a grotto, and gives a great close-up experience of the power of the fall.  It was a refreshing start to the day and provided a great opportunity to get closer with nature.

Escondido num cenário exuberante e a poucos quilômetros de Palenque, o magnífico Misol-Ha cai há 35 metros em uma ampla piscina rodeada por vegetação tropical e colorida. Lugar natural e perfeito para uma bela foto com a gigante cascada de fundo. No dialeto local do povo Maya, traduzindo ao pé da letra, o nome da grande cachoeira seria “Transmissão de água”. Ao contrário de várias outras, não é possível banhar-se, mas andar por de trás da mesma sim. Sentir os respinhos e até entrar numa gruta é ainda mais emocionate. Ótima forma de começar bem o dia!!!
