Day 323: At the water

Lago de Atitlán (Nahuatl for “At the water”) is a stunning volcanic lake in western Guatemala with charming, small towns scattered along its shores.  The villages in the lake region offer a great combination of scenic beauty, a relaxed atmosphere, and lots of available activities like hiking, paragliding, kayaking, and studying Spanish.  The impressive lake is the epitome of the country’s natural beauty and seeing the rising volcanoes surround the picturesque body of water is a sight etched in our minds.  The extraordinary views have made a fantastic first impression and we look forward to tackling some of the adventure activities in our time here.

Deslumbrante lago vulcânico ao oeste de Guatemala, assim é o Lago Atitlán. Considerado o mais profundo na Amércia Central, forrado com pequenas pueblitos ao redor, porém com suas distintas qualidades. Aldeias, religiões, tradições Mayas e uma linda combinação de beleza, num ambiente descontraído e com várias coisas para fazer. Caminhadas, escaladas, parapente, caiaque, aulas de espanhol e imensa diversidade de restaurantes (para nos deixar gordos!). Ou só ficar sentando perto do lago, apreciando os 126 km² de beleza divina rodeado por três belos vulcões já é mais que suficiente para tranquilizar nossos corações. Se primeira impressão é o que fica, já estamos sentindo que será ser difícil sair daqui…
