Day 276: The Fortunate Waterfall

About 7 kilometers from La Fortuna is a slender waterfall that emerges from the jungle before plummeting 200 feet into a natural pool.  After a steamy hour and a half walking uphill and being passed by countless tour buses, we finally arrived to the main attraction.  We were dismayed that it seemed like an amusement park in the US with hundreds of pale bodies in bathing suits looking, acting, and feeling quite at home.  We made our way down the accessible steps and realized our trip to the tourist trap was worth it as the rushing water grew louder and we caught sight of the impressive falls.  We splashed around for a bit and even jumped off a fallen tree into what seemed like a deeper pool of emerald waters…  We weren’t feeling the vibe so we hastily got out of there and were ready to move on to something a little more off the beaten path.

Primeira impressão é que nem parece que estamos em Costa Rica, de tanto gringos americanos que tem por aqui. É verão nos States então, férias em CR!!! Graças a eles tudo é bem mais caro e existem vários pacotes de turísmo prontos que dói o coração de tão caro. Como caminhar é sempre bom para o coração e para o bolso, depois de subir uma hora e meia e chegamos na cachoeira mais sofisticada que já vimos. Pagamos para entrar, vestiários para trocar de roupa, escadas para descer e não vamos mentir, é linda, mas para conseguir chegar na água tem que pedir “excuse me” (em inglês, porque aqui ninguém nem tenta falar espanhol) para os conterrâneos. Foram algumas tentativas de fotos, e finalmente Bryan conseguiu se refrescar pulando na água gelada e aproveitar os 70 metros de caída.
