Day 270: Star attraction

After seeing all the locals get around on two wheels, we decided to rent some bikes and take them for a spin around the island.  We made it to “Bluff Beach” after trudging through some sandy roads and cooled off in the waves a bit while wary of the rip-tide warning signs.  Even though we were advised against it, we decided to test our fitness to reach another beach almost 10 miles away.  Less than a mile of more ups than downs, we realized our comfortable single gear cruiser bikes weren’t going to cut it.  So we traded in our man-powered transportation for a mini-van and it still took about 45 minutes to get to Boca del Drago and Starfish beach.  There are countless five-sided creatures in the calm, shallow waters of the deserted, picturesque setting which form some original underwater constellations.

Nosso amigo do hostel nos disse que quase toda a ilha é bem plana, então decidimos alugar uma bike e sair pedalando. Fomos até uma praia e como estávamos no maior pique, a tentativa de pedalar mais 14km para outra praia foi em vão. Começou um sobe e desce e resolvemos dar meia volta. A desculpa podia ser que as bicicletas não tinham marchas então ficava praticamente impossível na subida. Trocamos as bikes por uma mini-van e aí sim, chegamos em Bocas Del Drago bem rápido. E valeu a pena, era longe mesmo. E para nossa surpresa, já vimos estrelas do mar, mas quantas juntas. Literalmente um constelação no mar.  Claro que na foto o modelo ajuda também!!!
