Day 210: Cut from the same cloth

Jesus and José, affectionately known as “the twins”, just turned 16 years old and are the apple of Doris’ older sister’s eye.  Rosa has raised a couple of fine young men and is noticeably proud of both of them for good reason.  Physically, they are far from identical and José towers over his smaller “older” brother.  They have distinct personalities and it’s interesting to see the differences in the way they carry themselves and interact with others.  They are taking a school trip to England and Germany in July and have been practicing their English with us to prepare.  Jesus does most of the interpreting but José is less timid when it comes to speaking so he is the unofficial spokesman for the duo.  In general, we have been impressed with how polite and well-behaved the kids in Venezuela are.  It’s refreshing to see respectful and humble youth being raised up right and we hope to have such kids as well someday.

Jesus e José, os gêmeos da família. Com apenas 16 anos de idade eles já fazem o maior sucesso, não somente porque são altos e lindos, mas porque eles tem um coração gigante. Filhos da Rosa, irmã de Doris, eu estou praticando não só o meu espanhol, mas o inglês também porque eles falam os dois idiomas muito bem. Inclusive precisam praticar porque nas férias de julho estarão indo para Englaterra para aprimorar a segunda língua. O mais legal de tudo, é que eles nasceram juntos porém são completamente diferentes. Um super atleta, o outro não gosta de esportes, um é super envergonhado o outro nem sabe o que é vergonha, são super especiais! Podemos dizer que em geral, as crianças/adolescentes aqui na Venezuela são muitos educadas e estamos muito feliz em estar ao redor delas. Elas nos trazem alegria e podemos observar como cuidar dos nossos pequenos quando eles chegarem, e se chegar gemêos a felicidade será em dobro também!
