As we were grabbing a bite to eat on the night we arrived in Fortaleza we noticed a commotion as people were looking and pointing at a series of trucks heading our way. It took us a few seconds to realize that they were transporting several gigantic wind turbine wings. We’ve seen them in action around the city and surrounding areas and are happy that Brazil is embracing another renewable source of energy. With 59 wind farms, Brazil is the wind power leader in Latin America and the Northeast region in particular is thought to be one of the best resources for production in the world. For us the winds have been most welcomed as we continue our never-ending struggle to stay cool in the tropical heat.
Foi logo na nossa primeira noite aqui em Fortaleza, enquanto estávamos comendo um camarãozinho, que notamos alguns caminhões enormes fazendo o carregamento de turbinas de aerogeradores. Não passou muito tempo depois, para perceber que os enormes tranformadores são muito comum aqui no norte do país. Todo equipamento não é barato, porém o processo é simples. O vento que bate no grande catavento se transforma em energia eólica e a mesma se mistura com energia elétrica. Podendo até dobrar a quantidade energia para as de casas que um posto de energia normal seria possível de abastecer. Essa sustentável energia já é considerada uma das mais promissoras fontes naturais, e notícia boa é que o Brasil já se encontra em 22° na lista de potência instalada. Dalê Brasil!
