The Banespa Tower is one of the most recognized skyscrapers in São Paulo and offers visitors from around the world an opportunity to overlook the city from up high. The observation deck sits on the 35th floor and allows one to see views that stretch the horizon to up to 40 kilometers. Much of the view, however, is filled with a verified concrete jungle full of high-rise apartment and office buildings from the vertical metropolis. The majority of the construction took place in the 1940’s and it was one of the tallest concrete structures in the world for almost 15 years. Although the building is not the tallest in the city today, it is located on the highest point in downtown which gives it an edge for sightseers. We enjoyed looking out over the seemingly never-ending rows of Lego-like buildings that gradually fade into the distance.
Outra dica interessante: A Torre Banespa. Quem ainda não conhece, só pode ter a desculpa que não mora aqui em São Paulo. Fácil acesso, no centro da cidade, ao lado da estação São Bento do metrô, e além do mais, é gratuito. Melhor que tudo isso junto, é ter a oportunidade de ver a cidade com outros olhos. O Banco do Estado de São Paulo, foi fundado em 1947 e continua sendo o 3º prédio mais alto da cidade e o 5º do país. Antigamente conhecida como a Torre Banespa, o novo nome do Edifício é Altino Arantes, que foi homenagem ao primeiro presidente brasileiro. Já passamos por várias capitais e sempre que podemos, examinamos a cidade de cima para baixo. Podemos dizer que nada é como São Paulo, um horizonte sem fim e que realmente estamos numa cidade de Lego.
