From the road, we had heard about the popular new activity Márcia’s sister and her family had picked up but not until we got to Brazil did we realize how it had become a big part of their life. It’s easy to sense the enthusiasm and excitement the Vicentini family shares when talking about their affection for longboard skate. Every Saturday morning they head to a nearby skate park where they all practice their cruising and carving skills. Skateboarding has become quite popular in Brazil and São Paulo is considered the capital of the skate movement in the country. My experience skateboarding is limited to riding around my garage on a simple old school Nash board as a kid so I was a little hesitant going down the small decline. The longboard makes things easier though, and as long as you have decent balance, slaloming down at a slow pace is doable. What we most liked about going with Vicentini’s, though, was seeing what a great family activity it is for them and something they all enjoy together.
I guess no one would believe me if I said going down is the easy part…
How cool !
It is great to know that Vicentini’s family is bonding together through an outdoor activity…
And as Norman said: Bryan ! I could do what you are doing ! lol…
Yeah, Brian, That does look “doable” the way you’re doing it. I think I could do that. :-)
