Day 54: Showering in the Great Outdoors

We’ve enjoyed the outdoor showers at our guesthouses in Indonesia so much that we’ve already included one in the blueprints of our dream house.  There’s nothing like getting cleaned up in the open air while the shining sun, shady palm trees, twinkling stars, or full moon is watching over.  The shower at our cottage in Gili Air has the best water pressure we’ve had so far- almost like a fire hose.  It could be because the water that flows comes from the plentiful resource found close by…  There is no fresh water on the island, just salt water from the ocean that has been, what we imagine to be,“very lightly” treated.  We’ve learned that it’s tough to work up a good lather with traditional bar soap but we’ve been able to “feel” clean enough.

Estamos adorando a idéia dos chuveiros ao ar livre aqui na Indonesia que até queremos incluir na casa dos nossos sonhos. Nada como tomar banho olhando para o sol, para as estrelas, na sombra das palmeiras ou apenas apreciando a lua cheia (que por sinal, estava maravilhosa). Até agora foi o chuveiro com mais pressão e com mais água que já tomamos banho em toda nossa jornada. Pode ser porque a água vem diretamente do mar, quero dizer, não tem água doce pra tomar banho. O tratamento da água deve ser bem pouco e ainda conseguimos sentir o sal quando tomamos banho. Tanto é que o sabonete/shampoo não faz nem espuma. Então sair do mar, e tomar banho é praticamente a mesma coisa, mas estamos “tentando” ficar limpinhos o suficiente.
