Our late afternoon stroll through the Fushimi-Inari Taisha shrine complex was one of the most memorable we’ve had in Japan. We learned that it’s the head shrine of Inari, the god of rice, and there are over 30,000 sub-shrines throughout the country. The path leading up the mountain to the inner shrine is lined with thousands of red Torii (gate) and is what makes the walk so fascinating. Each one was donated by a Japanese business to bring good fortune and prosperity. There are also various graveyards scattered throughout which gave us reason to head home when dusk started to set in.
Quioto foi capital do Japão e a residência do imperador de 794 a 1868. Como não foi atingida pela segunda guerra mundial os magníficos palácios, templos e santuários ainda se encontram aqui e fazem um Japão mais tradicional. Um dos lugares inesquecíveis e que ficará na nossa memória pra sempre será o Templo Fushimi Inari Shrine. Ele foi contruído no século 8 e esse intrigante santuário tem cerca de 30 mil portais (chamados Toris) doados pelos empresários para trazer prosperidade aos negócios. Um lugar diferente de tudo, ao meio das árvores, podiamos sentir a paz reinando no nosso coração!
